Learning Commitment Goals

Sunday 31 March 2019 2 comments
Everyones learning commitment goals have been glued into the back of their homework books so you can remember what your goals are and to work on them at home.

Reading Books

It would be much appreciated if everyone could have a look around their house for any GSNS reading books. No questions will be asked if a huge pile is returned, we would just love to have these back! We are looking at ordering new books but don't want to order books that families already have at home.

Thanks very much!

Writing of the Day

Tuesday 26 March 2019 2 comments
Here is the picture motivation we used for todays writing.

Writing of the day - Bella
It was a quiet starry night. I stopped. Then I saw a glowing castle. There were no bats and spider webs, instead there were fantastic flowers, beautiful food, not yucky rotten food. It was a blue magical, enchanting castle.

Special Award - Fahd
It was night time and I was out exploring. Then I saw a beautiful glittering castle. Then I had to walk a million stairs and it took 11 hours. Finally I reached the castle. Then someone was flashing a light, I dared to follow. Then I was amazed to see a magical princess. Also the colour of the castle was stunning.

Special Award - Gloria
It was a quiet, starry night and I was outside walking and then I stopped and saw a glittery, enchanted castle. I walked up the steps and knocked on the door. When the door opened a beautiful princess came out and the princess showed me around the castle. I was so happy for her because she had a pet unicorn and she let me pet the unicorn! Then the princess let me stay for dinner.

Friendship Chair

Saturday 23 March 2019 No comments
We now have a Friendship Chair outside our classroom! This could be used as a meeting spot if you have lost your friends in the playground or if you would like someone to play with.

Notices - Fundraising

Two notices came home at the end of the week relating to fundraising. Please check your childs bag if you haven't seen these.

Hot Cross Bun Forms

Entertainment Books (note you don't need to buy the book, you can buy the digital version that is an app on your phone so you always have it with you - I highly recommend this). In general the entertainment book is excellent and can save you a lot of money!

Writing - Super Powers

Tuesday 19 March 2019 2 comments
Today for writing we wrote about super powers and if we could have one power, what it would be.

Writing of the Day - Elyanah
I wish I had a super power. I keep thinking if I had one, what would it be. Hmmmmmm..... Oh! I wish I could read peoples minds. Yes! Oh! Yes! That is what it is going to be. I finally thought of one.

Special Award - Eliza
I would really want a super power. I like all of them. I just wonder what one it could be? Ahaaaaaa! I could have flying super powers that is flying and making ice.

We used this picture for todays writing motivation. We liked that it has some 'key words' listed on the sheet, this helped us to use some 'wow' words in our descriptions.

Writing of the day - Tomide
Frightening Haunted House
I was walking when I spotted a frightening haunted house. Instead of lovely flowers growing around there were bats. When I knocked on the door bells rang thod hong bang. Then the door opened and a witch said "wwwwwoooooo iiisssss tttthhhhheeeerrrreeeee?" "Me" I said scared. The food was rotten and the drinks with death water.

Special Sticker Award - Omar
I was out walking at night when suddenly I saw a spooky haunted house! I opened the door and peeked inside. I could see bugs. The suddenly I saw a ghost coming out of one of the doors and a skeleton, bees, spider and the funniest of all was the frogs. I felt nervous.

Special Sticker Award - Molly
Spooky Haunted House
I was out walking at night, suddenly I saw a spooky haunted house. I thought there was a witch in it. I was cold and it was foggy. I was lonely , the lights were on. Bats were flying around the house.

A reminder that learning commitment interviews are this Wednesday and Thursday (13th and 14th March). Thank you to those who have booked a time to meet with me. If you haven't, it's not too late! Bookings are made online at https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/ with the event code 'aduar'.

It is helpful if you come prepared with a strength and challenge goal for your child as interviews are only 20 minutes, otherwise we can discuss one together.

I am looking forward to talking with everyone.
